I never knew peace could feel this light,
like a soft breeze blowing the leaves away.
A gentle shimmering of something I have
yet to understand growing within me.
How can I explain it to you?
Flowers are still blooming,
their smell is still sweet.
The afternoon air is still hot
from the summer sun.
I cannot explain it well. Yet, somehow
you understand the feeling so well.

I never knew love could feel this colorful.
The grass is green, the dust dances so
gently with the warm sun beams
in the space
between my eyes & your sweet laughter.
The trees hear our words even though
we're speaking with our eyes.

I never knew home would feel this right
Like this is who I was meant to be,
where I was meant to be.
Everything I did led to this moment,
you holding me in your arms,
kissing my forehead ever so gently
like you're afraid that even a soft kiss
might hurt me.
Every choice I made led to this,
finding this sense of belonging with you.

I think I'll love you forever,
the way the night loves the stars so effortlessly.
The way the day loves the light so passionately.
