The Beginning of An End

Tick tock, tick tock
time’s moving, clock’s unlocked
what would you do
if a child you bring
to this world, can’t seem to do a thing
to protect them, to make them kind
to teach them how to live a life
Tick tock, tick tock
you brought them here, then lost the lock
to nurture hearts, to steer their wheels
but left them guessing, on their knees
you taught them rules, yet missed the tone
to show them love, to make it known
and now you ask why they’ve grown cold
or why their dreams don’t fit the mold
Tick tock, tick tock
the years roll on, the ties unlock
the hearts have changed, they have been numbed
the same people with a different font
and if only they could say
what a cruel world that made them stay
for they wanted to leave cause they couldn’t be
who they wanted this world to let them be.
But in the end, what’s left to claim?
A hollow soul with a broken name
they learned too late, with pain and cost
The life they dreamed, forever lost.
