The Universe Glitched
Poetry by Maria Etre

Rokkus erupted
the universe tried to meddle
with the puppets of circumstance
tying the strings of events to disrupt
the planned series of events
But something else was being planned…
the entangling of puppet-strings
only created new constellations
with stories embroidered across the sky
tracing the trajectory
of one thought to another
Different skies held different wishes
created by different lives
and seen by different eyes
infused with constellations
that never connected them,
they were apart…
Imagine, what would a thought think of?
It’s alone
Stories revolved around
big dippers and little ones
Star signs with their designs
but these two were just floating
weightlessly
glistening, putting on a show
for the ones on Earth below
orphaned from their creators
set in the sky above each one
They were, thought of
but never thought of
each other
Until that silly universe
entwined the strings of its puppets
of events
Putting a dent in his show…
where a fleeting thought
crashed with another
in the middle of the existing story lines
in the sky, in the middle of coordinates
in the middle of time
in the middle of it all
They merged
Oh they did,
one thought with another
right there in the fabric of glowing wishes
placed by humans themselves...
Why don’t stars carry thoughts?
what if they do
and it happened to be these two
“Who would’ve thought?” asked one thought
“I think no one did”, replied the other
“Excuse me?”, interrupted the universe
