A [Human] Pause
Poetry by Jennah Fakhouri

If only I could
smuggle people
through screens
into homes
safe and warm
I would click pause
just as the missile strikes
and open a portal
reaching through
with both hands
seeking seeking
the flesh of another
pulling them through
one after another
Just for a time
I would suspend time
we would sip tea
and talk about the future
and the children
The children
would play games in my living room
